THE HARDEST
KIND OF
WORK.

You cannot ship breaking changes. You cannot lose data. You cannot take the system down.

Your existing customers are making real decisions inside a system you're about to rebuild. A hospital is filing incident reports. A breeding farm is running mating analytics. A business is processing transactions. The wrong modernization approach fails in ways that are visible and expensive.

Most teams approach modernization as a big-bang rewrite. Akvasoft approaches it as incremental architecture evolution — rebuilding the plane while it's in the air, one component at a time, with customers noticing improvement and never disruption.

THE AKVASOFT
APPROACH.

Domain understanding before architecture.

Before touching a legacy codebase, Akvasoft maps what actually exists and why. Ten-year-old systems contain ten years of business logic — some of it documented, most of it embedded in code nobody explained. You need engineers who can read it, not just rewrite it.

Incremental migration with feature flags.

New architecture ships behind feature flags. Old and new run in parallel. Migration is validated against real traffic before cutover. No single "go live" moment where everything changes at once and everything breaks at once.

Know what not to touch.

G1 Goldmine has ten years of breeding data with tuned queries. Akvasoft kept MSSQL deliberately — the data integrity and query performance of a decade of optimization does not get migrated because the new stack uses something different. The stack follows the product. Not the other way around.

AI capabilities layered in incrementally.

Modernization is the right time to introduce AI-driven features — pedigree pattern analysis, incident narrative structuring, automated matching. Not as a separate project after the migration, but as a layer being built in parallel as the architecture matures.
